Alien Pathology | Acrylic Pour Painting

As you might know, I’m a huge science buff. I have done a few off-the-wall anatomical quilled pieces (click on the Anatomy link on the main menu to see them all) and loved the process each time. Alien Pathology | Acrylic Pour Painting didn’t start out as a biology-based piece. Oddly enough, my initial attempt was to create a rainbow result! LOL

This is what I love about pour paintings. You get something truly unique every single time. It’s difficult to replicate results and the beauty and the excitement – at least for me – is the moment where I flip the cup or tilt the canvas and see what appears. I don’t feel like I am creating this art as much as I am simply enabling the art to form itself.

So, back to this piece. I named it Alien Pathology because to me it resembles cells on a slide. And the otherworldly greenish yellows mixed with the reds and golds just made it look really “alien” to me. I placed the silicone cells by hand and had no real goal in mind. The result is stunning and unusual and I am hanging this baby on my wall as soon as I order in a float frame.

Although Alien Pathology | Acrylic Pour Painting isn’t for sale on Etsy – I do have several that are listed for sale currently. If you see a painting on my Facebook page or website that isn’t on Etsy, chances are it’s either in the curing phase, varnishing phase, or yet to be photographed. But, you can contact me to reserve items you are interested in.
