Bubble Coil Quilled Fat Cat | Red & Orange

Last night I went on a mission to explore new designs and color palettes for my cats. This is the first one I came up with: a Bubble Coil Quilled Fat Cat.

I used an outline I created the other day and watercolor grunge cardstock as backdrops. This also helped me choose the colors for each cat.

On this particular fat cat, I actually went two layers deep. That’s right. Underneath the top layer you can see, there is another complete layer of 1/8″ bubble coils. You can only appreciate this in person.

For the top layer, I wove in some coils made from a gilded red paper I found in my stash. It really enhances the look of this piece, though again, difficult to appreciate via a photograph. If you want some of the nicest gilded quilling paper around, check out JJ Quilling in the UK. It’s best to buy bulk to avoid shipping charges, but well worth it!

Check out the Original Scrollwork Cats Gallery before you leave.

All of the fat cats are available on my Etsy shop, including this Bubble Coil Quilled Fat Cat – and if you want a custom Fat Cat, that’s an option as well.
