Co-Author: Paper Monograms & Monogram Quilling

The last project I worked on before my Sabbatical were designs for a book and a kit: Paper Monograms & Monogram Quilling. The kit contains designs for all twenty-six letters of the alphabet and has enough paper included to do three monograms and is called Monogram Quilling: The Art of Rolled Paper. The book has all the designs in it, minus the quilling strips and is called Paper Monograms.

I co-authored (or more appropriately co-designed) half of the alphabet along with a fellow quiller Amanda Luke. Unfortunately, the project came at a horrible time in my life and it was such a rush from start to finish that I barely had time to think let alone unleash my creativity. My dear beloved dog had just died and I was crushed. Maybe more like incapacitated. So I muddled through the project in a depressive fugue and this was the end result. Hindsight is 20/20 and I really wish that I’d requested an extension so my work would have been up to par.

The good thing is that even though it didn’t meet my standard of artistry, people seemed to really enjoy it. It was beautiful having people find me on Instagram and Etsy and Facebook and show me their results.

This has inspired me to launch my own monogram kits this year. The plan will be to create several designs for each letter so people have a choice of patterns and create a kit that will include cutouts and easy-to-follow designs, as well as the paper. We’ll see how this progresses. For now stay tuned until I get the kits a little more fleshed out.

And, for those of you who took the time to read to the very bottom of this post – I’m running a promotion to receive a free signed copy of the Monogram Quilling kit. All you need to do to be entered is make a purchase on my Etsy store (and have a US address). Winners will be announced on February 15, 2020.
