I made this Fancy Red & Black Monogram | Letter H for my mother as a Christmas gift in 2014. I think it was probably the first monogram I made that came out looking truly polished. What I loved most about this was the sheen of the edge of the black strips. This was also my first month of an adventure into 1/4″ quilling paper. It didn’t take long before I was completely hooked and I really haven’t gone back to 1/8″ ever since. I do use it on occasion, but for adornment only usually.
This monogram is 8″ x 10″ x 1/4″. It is made entirely out of scrollwork, both s-scrolls and c-scrolls. I used my signature glueless method to create all the scrolls so I could resize them if necessary as I worked into tighter spaces. The outline was made with regular weight strips as at the time, cardstock edge strips weren’t available commercially.
Check out some of my other Monogram in the posts below. But keep in mind this doesn’t show them all. To see my entire portfolio visit the Monogram Gallery.
