This Quilled Blue Monogram | Letter F was a gift for my grandmother in 2014. I think it’s safe to say that everyone in my family received a monogram that year because I was quite obsessed with my newfound hobby!
I made a ton of monograms that fall, including a Green S, Black Vines J, and Red & Black Fancy H. Even though I cringe when I see some of them now because I’m a little OCD and I can see all the flaws, I still enjoy looking over my old artwork now and then because it really gives me a sense of what you can do when you put your mind to it.
This monogram is 8″ x 10″ and mounted on a white cardstock background. I used 1/4″ standard quilling paper throughout. The primary technique I used were what I like to call c-coils. It’s basically a loose coil with a tail on the end. They aren’t glued off like a regular loose coil. Outside of that, I did some edgework – which at the time was more difficult because back then cardstock strips weren’t commercially available.
